I also can't see a Masters folder not sure what I'm looking for there. Is that correct? If so, I can't find an option in Finder for Show Package Contents. The only way I can see either the iPhoto or Photos libraries is using Finder. You said " I looked into my original iPhoto library using Show Package Contents, and looked at the folder permissions for the library and the Masters folder." Ultimately I want to delete these from Photos and keep them only on the external HD.īut I'm not sure I'm looking at your instructions correctly: They appear to be OK when viewed in Photos.

I also tried simply copying them to the external HD with same result. But there are around 300 of these 2,100 that just won't export. I've done a few other albums (smaller, about 600 or fewer photos) successfully. I'm trying to export 2,100 photos (from one album) to my external hard drive. PS: I recently set up this discussion profile for my wife, I am actually a lot more experienced then my 2 or 3 posts implies. You need to be able to unlock the Get Info panel by clicking the little padlock in the bottom corner, so only an Admin can do this fix. That seems to have worked well, and at least in a couple initial tests, has solved my problem. I changed the Staff to Read & Write, and then applied that change to all enclosed items (there is a selection in the Get Info panel for that easy change. The user name was Read & Write, but the Staff was Read Only. Then I went to the new Photos Library and looked at those (the file in the Pictures folder). The user name was Read & Write, and the Staff was Read & Write. I looked into my original iPhoto library using Show Package Contents, and looked at the folder permissions for the library and the Masters folder. The Photos Library has a more recent date, and is a larger footprint on the hard drive. In my Pictures folder I have two very large libraries, one with each of those names. There was a very vague clue regarding the two different photo libraries, which apparently is a result of moving to Yosemite, and the photo organizing application changing from the name "iPhoto" to only "Photos".

Also, the file names I wanted to export did not show up in a search on the file name, which is unusual. To answer one of the questions above, I could not edit the pictures in "Photos". I might add that drag and drop would also not work. I have essentially the same issue and error messages.
